PDP sets up caretaker committees in 5 states

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved caretaker committees to oversee party affairs in Delta, Rivers, Enugu, Imo, and Osun states.

The party’s National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Shan, explained that the National Working Committee (NWC) acted on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) in line with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025).

In Delta State, Professor Sylvester Monye would chair the committee with Dr. Michael Tidi as Secretary, joined by members including Ujor Ucheonny, Victor Ofobrukueta, Johnbull Kenairu, Jackson Agbor, Onega Mike, Chief Ekiyor Charles, Mrs Vero Egbuna, Chukwunonso Ndah, and Walter Uguoye.

For Enugu, Steve Oruruo was named Chairman, Martin Ugwuamadieze as Secretary, with Ugwu Godswill and others forming the membership.

In Imo State, Chief John Okere would serve as Chairman, Mr Magnus Amadi as Secretary, supported by members including Kenneth Ejiofor, Chinonso Odoemelam, and Celestine Uwah.

Rivers State’s committee is led by Ogbam Ojimah as Chairman, Dr Field Baribeful Nkor as Secretary, and members including Richard Enyia Victor and Grace Boma.

In Osun, Tunde Tijani was appointed Chairman, Bamidele Seyi-Abiola as Secretary, and Lateef Mumini Obide among the committee members.

Shan noted that the committees’ tenure would not exceed 90 days or until new executive committees are elected.

He also added that all committee members must operate strictly under the PDP Constitution (2025), the Electoral Act 2022, and Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution.

The committees are tasked with managing party activities in their states, ensuring compliance with legal and party guidelines during the transitional period.
