Delta Assembly passes 2025 supplementary budget of N200bn

The Delta House of Assembly on Thursday passed N209 billion supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year.
The passage followed the adoption of the report of House Committee on Finance and Appropriation during plenary of the Assembly in Asaba.
Presenting the report, the Chairman of the Committee, Mrs Marilyn Okowa-Daramola, said the budget was in consonance with the provisions of Section 121 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as altered).
Okowa-Daramola added that the budget was also in consonance with the Fiscal Responsibility Law, 2008 (as amended).
She also said that the requested augmentations were necessary and would help to enhance the capacity of the state government to meet specific maturing obligations and priority commitment for the interest of the state.
Okowa-Daramola urged the Assembly to consider and pass the recommendations of the committee.
The supplementary budget proposal, which was presented on Tuesday during plenary, had a total of N140.6 billion for Recurrent Expenditure and N59.4 billion for Capital Expenditure.
The Speaker, Rt Hon.Dennis Guwor, who presided over the plenary after the passage, commended the committee and lawmakers for the speedy consideration of the bill.
He also thanked Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori for initiating the bill, adding that it would go a long way in enhancing the infrastructural development of the state.
