Tinubu meets Fubara, Wike amid Rivers political crisis

President Bola Tinubu has once again convened a meeting with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike as tensions over political leadership in the state persist.
Presidency sources confirmed that the meeting took place on Sunday night at the President’s official residence in Aso Villa, Abuja.
While the details of the discussions remain undisclosed, the engagement comes amid ongoing disputes regarding political leadership recognition in Rivers State and stalled efforts by some lawmakers to impeach Governor Fubara.
Reports indicated that President Tinubu had previously advised Governor Fubara, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to recognise Minister Wike, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member serving in the APC-led Federal Government, as the political leader of the party in Rivers State.
This latest intervention is believed to mark at least the fourth occasion President Tinubu has stepped in personally to mediate the prolonged standoff, highlighting the administration’s concern over maintaining stability in the oil-rich state.
