Arteta worries over Arsenal’s rising injuries

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed concern over his squad’s growing injury list, fearing it could impact their pursuit of a historic quadruple this season.

The Gunners advanced to the FA Cup fifth round with a 4-0 win against Wigan, though injuries to Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White marred the victory.

Calafiori was sidelined by a pre-match warm-up issue, while White exited in the second half due to a knock sustained during play.

Captain Martin Odegaard missed the match following an injury in Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Brentford.

Germany forward Kai Havertz will be out for the remainder of February, and Spain midfielder Mikel Merino is sidelined for the season after foot surgery.

Arsenal currently tops the Premier League, remains in the Champions League last 16, and faces Manchester City in the League Cup final, intensifying fitness concerns.

Arteta emphasized the need for returning players to boost squad depth and tactical options against varied opponents.

Eberechi Eze regained form with two assists against Wigan, helping restore confidence after a slow start to the season.

The Gunners now face bottom-placed Wolves at Molineux, followed by the north London derby against Tottenham, in a crucial week for their quadruple bid.
