Super Eagles to face Iran, Jordan in Amman four-nation invitational

The Nigerian men’s national football team, the Super Eagles, is set to participate in the upcoming Four-Nation Invitational Tournament in Amman, Jordan, next month during the FIFA international window.
The tournament, which will also feature Iran, Jordan, and Costa Rica, is designed to provide high-level international exposure and competitive experience for the participating teams.
According to a statement released on Friday by Ademola Olajire, Director of Communications at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the competition aligns with the federation’s broader technical development objectives.
“This tournament presents the Super Eagles with quality opposition and a chance to gain valuable international experience,” Olajire said.
He added that competing against teams from different football confederations would enhance the squad’s tactical flexibility and depth ahead of upcoming major tournaments.
The Eagles are scheduled to open their campaign against Iran at the 17,000-capacity Amman International Stadium on March 27.
On the same day, Jordan will play Costa Rica at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, which can accommodate 62,000 spectators.
The second round of matches is set for March 31, with hosts Jordan facing Nigeria at the Amman International Stadium, while Costa Rica takes on Iran at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
The organisers are expected to release the official match schedule, including kick-off times, in the coming days.
The Amman Invitational is seen as an opportunity for the Super Eagles to fine-tune their strategies and assess the readiness of the squad ahead of more competitive fixtures, while also strengthening Nigeria’s presence on the international football stage.
