Congresses integrating Bayelsa APC members, says Gov. Diri

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) congresses in the state, stating that both old and new members of the party are now fully integrated.

Governor Diri made the remarks on Saturday during the local government congress of the party at Kaiama, headquarters of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area (KOLGA).

“As I have stated, there are no old and new members of APC anymore in the state. So there should be no segregation of any sort.

“Some of the newly elected party executives have been in the APC for a long time, while others have just joined.

”We have made it possible for all to integrate and work together for the good of our party, ” he said.

He added that the APC had become the dominant party in KOLGA and was positioned to win all forthcoming elections in the area and the state.

“God has made it possible that, for the first time, we have virtually 90 per cent of all political leaders in Kolokuma/Opokuma in APC.

”I am convinced that in any future electoral contest in the state, APC will have a clean sweep, ” he said.

Governor Diri also charged the newly elected party executives and state congress delegates to make President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 their top priority and to deliver 95 per cent of votes to the party in the local government area.

The congress was conducted by the Kolokuma/Opokuma APC election committee chairman, Mr. Marlin Daniel. Mr. Panebi Dipagha emerged as chairman through consensus, alongside 26 other executive members.

The election was observed by APC state congress committee chairman Chief Frank Omare, screening committee chairman Hon. Oghene Egho, and an official from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Dipagha thanked the party leadership for the opportunity to serve, pledged to operate within party laws, and promised to follow Governor Diri’s consultative leadership style.
