DOPF highlights digital storytelling for women’s voices

The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) called for stronger digital support for women.
The call came during the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration in Asaba.
The event was held on March 11, 2026, at the DOPF Secretariat.
Participants included government, media and women‑focused organisations.
Mrs Patricia Gbemudu, former Chairperson of NAWOJ Delta State, in her keynote address, stressed the power of digital storytelling to enhance women’s visibility.
“Empowering women through digital storytelling requires intentional giving,”Gbemudu said, urging deliberate support from media and institutions.
She noted digital platforms would help to preserve experiences and expand opportunities.
“Use digital tools to learn, share and grow, she added.
In a goodwill message, Mrs Tracy Omamode Ikolomi, Delta State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), described storytelling as a key societal tool.
“The focus on empowering women through storytelling is both timely and commendable,” Ikolomi said, noting that it promotes inclusion and leadership.
Mrs Margaret Jeku Amuyiwa, President of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) Delta State, urged investment in the education and development of the girl‑child.
She emphasised that opportunities for women would help to strengthen families and society.
Comrade Sonia Unobunjo, Chairperson of NAWOJ Delta State, encouraged journalists and digital publishers to tell impactful stories.
Unobunjo noted that the media remained a powerful platform to challenge inequality barriers.
She urged continued storytelling that highlights women’s experiences.
Mrs Josephine Omodior, Secretary of the organising committee, said the theme:’GiveToGain’ reflects belief in storytelling’s power to amplify voices and spotlight achievements and struggles.
In closing, Mr Emmanuel Enebeli, Chairman of DOPF, praised organisers and attendees.
He assured continued support for initiatives that promote gender inclusion through digital media.
