First Lady honours women’s resilience on Mother’s Day

In a heartfelt message to mark 2026 Mother’s Day, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu celebrated the resilience, courage, sacrifices, and achievements of women across Nigeria and around the world, describing them as the “silent architects of the nation’s future.”

In her statement, the First Lady emphasised the central role of mothers in shaping families and society.

“Today, I honour and celebrate every mother across Nigeria. Your love, care, and sacrifices do not go unnoticed,” she said, acknowledging both the monumental and the quiet, everyday contributions that define motherhood.

“Beyond the big sacrifices, it is the small, quiet moments that truly define a mother’s love,” Oluremi Tinubu added.

“On this special day, we carry those moments in our hearts and say thank you for the warmth and love you selflessly give.”

She further described mothers as the enduring heartbeat of every home, asserting that their dedication and nurturing spirit form the foundation of societal stability and growth.

The First Lady also encouraged mothers to continue their vital role in guiding and teaching children, passing down wisdom, discipline, and resilience to benefit future generations.

“I implore our mothers to continue to teach and guide the children, passing down wisdom and strength that would benefit future generations,” she said, underscoring the long-term influence of mothers in national development.

“May we all live to enjoy the fruits of our labour over our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Happy Mother’s Day.”
