NRC announces special Eid-El-Fitri train services

The Nigerian Railway Corporation has unveiled special train services across major routes nationwide to ease travel pressures during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitri festivities.
The temporary arrangements are intended to ensure “seamless, safe, and efficient” transportation amid the expected surge in passenger traffic.
Additional trips would run on key corridors, including the Lagos–Ibadan and Abuja–Kaduna routes.
On March 19, 2026, three special trips are scheduled on the Lagos–Ibadan corridor, with departures from Mobolaji Johnson Station, Ebute Metta at 7:40 a.m., 1:40 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., and from Obafemi Awolowo Station, Moniya at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.
On the Abuja–Kaduna route, two trips would operate on March 19, followed by three daily trips from March 20 to March 23 to provide passengers with more flexibility.
The NRC is also partnering with the Osun State Government to run the “Imole Special Train,” which would transport passengers from Iddo Station in Lagos to Osogbo free of charge.
The NRC would supply rolling stock, technical support, and operational services for this initiative.
Meanwhile, services on the Warri–Itakpe corridor would maintain a thrice-weekly schedule, while the Port Harcourt–Aba line on the Eastern narrow gauge would continue regular operations throughout the Sallah period.
Passengers are urged to plan ahead, arrive early, and comply with ticketing and security procedures to ensure a smooth travel experience.
The NRC also extended goodwill to Muslim faithful, wishing them a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitri.
