PDP confirms zoning for national convention

The Peoples Democratic Party has stated that its zoning arrangement will serve as the guiding framework for the forthcoming National Convention scheduled for March 29 and 30 in Abuja.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the party’s 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Monday.

The communiqué was jointly signed by the Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), Abdulrahman Mohammed, and the committee’s Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.

The NEC reaffirmed the party’s preparedness for the convention, which is themed “A Convention of Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal.”

It directed all relevant organs and committees of the party to ensure proper coordination toward delivering a credible, transparent, and successful exercise.

The committee also endorsed the zoning formula for national elective positions, noting that it aligns with the party’s long-standing principles of equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and national balance.

According to the communiqué, the sale of nomination forms for the convention has commenced, with aspirants advised to strictly adhere to approved guidelines and timelines.

The NEC reiterated the supremacy of the party and urged members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to its collective interest.

It expressed satisfaction with the conduct of ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses nationwide, describing them as peaceful and reflective of democratic standards.

The committee subsequently ratified the reports of the congresses and commended party leaders, electoral committees, stakeholders, and members for ensuring due process and transparency.

The party also reviewed progress on its ongoing electronic membership registration exercise, applauding the level of compliance recorded so far.

It reaffirmed its commitment to building a comprehensive and technology-driven membership database and encouraged members across the country to actively participate.

The NEC expressed confidence in the party’s renewed unity, organisational strength, and readiness to provide purposeful leadership and national direction.
