Oborevwori inaugurates renewed hope grassroots team

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, has commissioned a new cadre of local government and ward coordinators for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, strengthening grassroots engagement and civic participation across the state.

The inauguration ceremony, held in Asaba on Tuesday saw the swearing‑in of 25 local government coordinators alongside 270 ward representatives, all tasked with deepening community outreach and bolstering communication between citizens and elected officials.

Oborevwori was represented at the event by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, who urged the newly appointed ambassadors to uphold unity, discipline, and clear messaging in the discharge of their duties.

Sir Onyeme described the initiative as a strategic link between government structures and grassroots communities.

“The inauguration empowers you to represent and communicate government programmes effectively within your communities,” Onyeme said, stressing the importance of grassroots engagement in advancing public understanding and participation.

Former Governor and South‑South Renewed Hope Coordinator Ifeanyi Okowa commended the exercise, emphasising that the platform is designed to enhance the communication of government policies and reforms at the local level.

He encouraged the coordinators to build strong partnerships with community leaders and party stakeholders.

Also addressing the gathering, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman for the South‑South, Victor Giadom, underscored the strategic value of grassroots leadership in bridging the gap between citizens and governance.

He noted that the coordinators would serve as direct conduits of information and feedback between government and the public.

Funkekeme Solomon, State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Delta, described the inauguration as a milestone in building a robust and functional organisational framework across all local governments and wards.

He urged the appointees to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, commitment, and a focus on community service.
