Ondo Assembly promises prudent use of state resources

The Ondo State House of Assembly says it is committed to the prudent use of the state resources.
Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju, Chairman, Public Account Committee, stated this after reviewing the state Auditor-General reports for 2021, 2022 and 2023 on Wednesday in Akure.
Ogunwumiju said that the exercise was a constitutional duty of the Assembly to ensure transparency and accountability in the system.
“It’s obvious that the ministries, departments and agencies(MDAs) are the engine room of any government to ensure that it can bring about the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
“The MDAs must remain accountable. They must, of course, remain transparent so that the resources of the state can be used appropriately.
“So, what we have been doing is to scrutinise their records and pointing out areas where they have deviated from standards.
“We have noticed some infractions in some areas, and have corrected and sanctioned where necessary.
“This process is to ensuring that activities of government are scrutinised and ensured that at the end of the day they are for the good of the common man in Ondo State,” he said.
Ogunwumiju added that the exercise would boost the economy of the state by ensuring that the government’s programmes and policies were translated to the dividends of democracy.
A total of 115 MDAs appeared before the committee for auditing which lasted for 30 days.
