APC Assembly candidate in Delta Eluaka resigns membership

Chief Sualeze Eluaka, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly in Oshimili South during the 2023 elections, has formally resigned from the party with immediate effect.

In a letter dated May 3, addressed to the APC Chairman in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Eluaka confirmed his decision, stating that it followed careful consideration and consultations with his political stakeholders.

He opened his message by expressing gratitude to the people of Delta State, particularly residents of Oshimili South in Delta North, acknowledging their consistent support throughout his political journey.

“The overwhelming support and love you have shown me throughout my political journey have been my greatest source of strength,” he said, while noting that his experience in politics has not been without challenges.

Eluaka described the “silent struggles” that accompanied his political career, highlighting what he called emotional and personal burdens faced by both himself and his loyal supporters, known as “The Sualeze Faithfuls,” before and after the 2023 elections.

“We have strived to serve this party with sincere devotion under incredibly difficult circumstances, often at great personal cost,” he added.

He also alleged that individuals who were expected to provide support within the party structure instead became sources of pressure.

According to him, despite significant efforts and resources invested in sustaining the APC’s presence in Oshimili South and Delta State particularly during periods when the party struggled as an opposition, his group was sidelined.

Eluaka also raised concerns over internal party dynamics, claiming that newer entrants capitalized on leadership crises to take control of party structures, effectively displacing long-standing members.

“Those of us who built and nurtured the party have been turned into outsiders in our own political home,” he stated, adding that rather than being recognised for loyalty, he and his supporters became targets of “attacks and marginalisation.”

Following what he described as extensive reflection, Eluaka said he had concluded that his vision for public service and the aspirations of his supporters could no longer be achieved within the APC.

“I am, therefore, withdrawing my membership to seek a political environment that values equity, recognizes hard work, and fosters true unity,” he declared.

He thanked the party for the opportunities he had during his time as a member and wished his former colleagues well.
