Abbas secures APC endorsement for fifth term

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has received unanimous endorsement from All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Zaria Federal Constituency as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement followed a constituency-wide affirmation exercise involving 1,376 party members drawn from 13 wards, according to the Returning Officer, Hamisu-Ibrahim Kubau.
He said all participants endorsed the Speaker without opposition, describing the process as peaceful and well organised.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), represented by its Electoral Officer in Zaria, Mrs Balason Miga, alongside APC primary election officials led by Senator Yakubu Shuaibu and security personnel.
Party officials noted that ward executives and returning officers across the constituency also took part in the process, which they said reflected broad internal consensus.
Abbas had earlier been affirmed by 250 delegates from his ward, Kwarbai B, in Zaria Local Government Area before the wider constituency endorsement.
In his acceptance remarks, the Speaker described the development as a strong expression of trust in his leadership and a continuation of past political support he has enjoyed in the constituency.
He said:“Today’s affirmation shows that the people appreciate and value my representation and President Bola Tinubu’s quality of leadership.”
He added that similar support had characterised his previous primaries, where he was endorsed without inducement, and thanked constituents for sustaining confidence in his representation over the years.
Abbas pledged to strengthen legislative work and attract more constituency projects aimed at improving living conditions in Zaria Federal Constituency.
He also pointed to ongoing infrastructure development under the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, urging constituents to maintain support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
