Delta speaker says APC primaries reflect democracy in action
The Speaker of the Delta House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Guwor, has commended the conduct of the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential primaries.
He made the remarks on Saturday after casting his vote at his polling unit in Gbaramatu Ward 4, Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state.
Guwor, who arrived at the venue of the exercise alongside other APC chieftains, joined accredited members in a queue before casting his vote.
Speaking after voting, Guwor who is also the Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria,described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and well organised across the state.
He said the conduct of the primaries reflected APC’s commitment to internal democracy and inclusive participation.
According to him, the turnout of members showed growing grassroots involvement in the party’s decision-making processes.
The speaker said the successful conduct of the presidential primary demonstrated the party’s organisational strength nationwide.
“The party has demonstrated capacity to conduct a nationwide direct primary.
“The turnout of party members show strong grassroots engagement. What we have seen today is democracy in action.
“With all registered APC members voting in their wards, the process gives every member a voice in deciding the party’s flag bearer,” he added.
Guwor commended members of the Presidential Primary Election Planning Committee for ensuring a peaceful and orderly exercise.
He also praised the APC state Working Committee for coordinating the process successfully across the state.
Guwor reaffirmed Delta APC’s commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu, the sole aspirant in the contest.
He stressed that party members in Delta remained united in strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections
