Iran says progress made in U.S. talks, no deal imminent
Iran’s Foreign Ministry has said that conclusions have been reached on several issues discussed in a possible memorandum of understanding with the United States, but stressed that this does not indicate that a final agreement is close.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made this known on Monday, saying negotiations are still ongoing and warning against expectations of an imminent deal.
“Conclusions have been reached on many topics discussed in a potential memorandum of understanding with the US, but this does not mean Tehran is close to signing an agreement,” he said.
He added that Iran is focused on negotiating an end to the war and is not currently discussing nuclear-related matters, according to the ministry briefing.
Baghaei also accused U.S. officials of shifting positions, saying the inconsistency is complicating efforts to reach a final settlement.
The statement comes amid continued diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington, with both sides acknowledging limited progress while still holding firm on major disagreements.
