FAAN urges airlines to improve passenger experience

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has called on international airlines operating in the country to upgrade their protocol services and improve passenger facilitation in order to ensure a better pre-boarding experience for travellers.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at FAAN, Mr. Henry Agbebire, made the appeal during a meeting with members of the International Airlines Association of Nigeria (IAAN) held at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, over the weekend.

He stressed the need for stronger collaboration between airlines and the aviation authority to enhance service delivery across Nigerian airports.

Agbebire, in a statement, described the engagement as “a lively interactive session” that gave both sides the opportunity to discuss issues affecting their operations and other areas of mutual interest.

He explained that the meeting was aimed at strengthening the working relationship between FAAN’s Department of Protocol and Passages and airline operators, while also creating a platform to hear and address operational challenges faced by airlines.

During the discussions, airline representatives raised concerns including poor signage linked to ongoing landside construction, inadequate lifts, challenges with shuttle bus services, and disruptions to airside ramp markings due to construction activities.

They also called for improved support to enhance overall passenger experience.
FAAN, in response, assured all stakeholders that the concerns raised would be carefully reviewed, with a commitment to improving service delivery and operational standards across airports in the country.
