Donald Duke wins PRP presidential ticket

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has elected former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Tuesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja following the conclusion of the presidential primary election.

PRP National Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, said Duke emerged victorious after securing the highest number of votes cast during the exercise.

According to him, Duke polled 6,499 votes to defeat other contenders in the keenly contested primary.

His closest challenger, Kingsley Yakubu, secured 2,699 votes after campaigning nationwide on youth inclusion and economic reforms.

Dr. Nnaoke Ufere, an academic and policy expert, finished third with 784 votes.

Baba-Ahmed described the primary election as free, transparent and credible.

He stated that the exercise was conducted without bias or irregularities.

The PRP chairman commended party members and delegates for maintaining order and discipline throughout the process.

He also urged party faithful to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, the party remains committed to presenting credible leadership and democratic values to Nigerians.

Baba-Ahmed, however, advised aggrieved aspirants to seek redress through the party’s Appeal Committee.

He assured contestants that the party would handle all complaints in line with its constitution and internal democratic procedures.
