NDC Moves to Strengthen Party Structure

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced major resolutions aimed at transforming the party into a stronger and more enduring political institution.

At its second National Executive Committee meeting, the party reaffirmed that its structure remains the highest authority in all matters concerning elected governments produced on its platform.

The resolutions were contained in a statement by National Publicity Secretary Osa Director.

According to the resolutions, key government policies, programmes, and appointments, except personal staff selections, must be made in consultation with party organs.

The leadership stressed that party members must place collective interests above personal ambitions and remain loyal to the organization’s objectives.

The NDC also directed all affiliated groups and non-governmental organisations linked to the party to operate under its supervision and not as independent entities.

As part of efforts to promote discipline, the party approved the development of a comprehensive code of conduct for officials and aspirants.

A committee headed by the National Legal Adviser has been tasked with drafting guidelines that will regulate conduct and strengthen accountability within the party.

The party further inaugurated a National Reconciliation Committee to address grievances and restore unity among members across the country.

Leaders emphasised that the NDC is being built as a lasting institution rather than a platform centred on individuals or temporary political interests.

Members were encouraged to remain committed to the party’s growth and contribute towards building a sustainable organisation for future generations.

The resolutions also highlighted the need for unwavering loyalty to both the party and the national interest from all candidates and aspirants.

On financial management, the NDC pledged to enforce strict transparency and accountability in the use of party resources by its officers.

Party funds, the leadership stated, must be dedicated solely to official activities and managed in line with established regulations.

Candidates seeking elective positions will also be required to disclose all campaign-related funding and contributions received from various sources.

The party directed that campaign funds at all levels must pass through designated party accounts to ensure proper monitoring and accountability.
