A high-level delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has paid a condolence visit to the Katsina State Government following the death of retired Major General Rabe Abdullahi, assuring that those responsible for his killing will be tracked down and prosecuted.

The military team, led by the Chief Administration Officer at DHQ, Major General I.M. Abdullahi, was received in Katsina by the Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, who represented Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

During the visit, the delegation conveyed the condolences of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, describing the late senior officer as a distinguished soldier whose service and sacrifice to the nation would not be forgotten.

They noted that his death represents a major loss to both his family and the country at large.

The DHQ assured the state government that security agencies are working in close collaboration to identify and bring to justice those behind the incident.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ongoing operations against banditry and other violent crimes across the country.

Responding on behalf of the state government, the Deputy Governor thanked the military leadership for the visit, describing it as a gesture of solidarity during a difficult moment for the state.

He restated the government’s resolve to continue working closely with security agencies to address insecurity.

He stressed that efforts would be sustained to ensure that those responsible for the killing are brought to justice, while also calling for intensified security operations across Katsina State.

The deputy governor further reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, urging security agencies to step up operations in troubled areas.

A minute of silence was observed in honour of the late Major General, whose death has continued to attract tributes from military officers, government officials, and citizens across the country.

According to state officials, the retired officer was abducted alongside his wife on May 30, 2026, along the Katsina–Matazu road while travelling to his hometown.

He was later confirmed dead while in captivity, with authorities attributing his death to complications linked to diabetes and hypertension.

He was laid to rest on Saturday evening at the Gidan Dawa Cemetery in Katsina metropolis after funeral prayers attended by family members, military personnel, and sympathisers.
