Edo Queens Clinch 2025/26 NWFL Title

Edo Queens have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women’s Football League after securing a decisive draw in the Super Six final round.
The team sealed the title with a goalless draw against Bayelsa Queens at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The result ensured they finished top of the standings after entering the matchday needing just a point.
It marks the club’s second NWFL title in three years under coach Moses Aduku.
Edo Queens ended the competition on nine points to clinch the championship.
Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons finished joint second with eight points each.
Abia Angels concluded the tournament with six points.
Robo Queens and Rivers Angels both ended on four points each after the Super Six fixtures.
In other matches, Nasarawa Amazons drew with Rivers Angels while Abia Angels shared points with FC Robo Queens.
Rivers Angels were awarded the Fair Play honour for their conduct during the tournament.
Individual awards also highlighted standout performances across the competition.
Robo Queens’ Oluwakemi Adegbuyi was named Player of the Season for her impressive campaign.
Abia Angels’ Fatima Okolo won Goalkeeper of the Season for her consistent displays.
The top scorer award was shared between Abasiofoh Uwah of Rivers Angels and Atume Doorsuur of Edo Queens.
Both forwards finished the season with 13 goals each.
Edo Queens are now set to represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B tournament.
The competition also serves as qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Governor Monday Okpebholo praised the team’s resilience and congratulated players and officials on the achievement.
Former deputy governor Philip Shaibu also hailed the victory as a reflection of Edo State’s investment in sports development.
The triumph has been described as an inspiration for young girls aspiring to excel in football.
