INEC debunks viral claim on CVR suspension in Delta

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Delta, has dismissed a viral report claiming CVR in Akwukwu Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area, was suspended due to a faulty machine.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs Nseabasi Udom, for the Resident Electoral Commissioner, the Commission described the publication as false, misleading, and not originating from INEC.

INEC clarified that the registration exercise was ongoing in line with its approved rotation schedule.

According to the Commission, the Continuous Voter Registration machines were deployed to Ibusa earlier on Thursday, where the exercise successfully took place.

It further explained that the registration centre at Akwukwu Igbo would resume operations between July 6 and July 10, 2026, as part of the structured LGA rotation timetable.

The Commission urged residents of Akwukwu Igbo and surrounding communities to disregard the viral message and rely only on official INEC communication channels for accurate updates.

Eligible voters were advised to proceed with their registration and update exercises as scheduled, without fear of cancellation or disruption.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent, credible, and accessible Continuous Voter Registration process across in the State.

It also assured all eligible citizens of equal opportunity to participate in the electoral process.
