Police rescue kidnapped Oyo farmer

The Oyo State Police Command has successfully rescued a farmer, Owoade Mathew, who was abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Igbojaye–Budo Aare bush road, following an intensive security operation that forced the criminals to abandon their victim.
The Command disclosed that the farmer was kidnapped on July 12 while travelling through the area, prompting an immediate response from security agencies.
A coordinated rescue mission involving police operatives and other security personnel was launched to track down the abductors and secure the victim’s safe release.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, sustained pressure mounted by the joint security team disrupted the kidnappers’ activities, leaving them with no option but to flee and abandon the victim.
Mathew regained his freedom on the evening of July 13 and was immediately taken to a medical facility, where he received treatment and underwent medical examination.
Police authorities said he is in stable condition and will assist investigators with information that could help identify and arrest those responsible for the abduction.
Commending the operation, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Olugbenga, praised the dedication of security personnel as well as the cooperation of community leaders and residents whose timely information contributed to the successful rescue.
He assured the public that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state, stressing that security operations against kidnappers and other violent criminals would continue without interruption.
The police also confirmed that a manhunt has been launched for the fleeing suspects, expressing confidence that they would soon be apprehended and brought to justice.
Investigators are expanding intelligence-gathering efforts as part of ongoing operations to dismantle kidnapping networks operating within the state.
