The presidential flag bearer of the NDC, Mr. Peter Obi, has identified poor leadership, weak governance, and misplaced priorities as some of the major factors responsible for Nigeria’s current challenges as he marked his 65th birthday.
In a birthday message reflecting on the state of the nation, Obi called for a new approach to governance anchored on competence, accountability, transparency, and responsible management of public resources.
He stressed that Nigeria’s abundant human and natural resources could deliver greater prosperity if properly harnessed through effective planning and purposeful leadership.
The former Anambra State Governor expressed concern over the impact of years of governance challenges, which he said have contributed to economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and declining public confidence in institutions.
