Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has declared his support for the second-term ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governorship aspiration of Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fubara made the declaration on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Riven Medical Industries Project in Port Harcourt, where he announced that previous political differences among major forces in the state had been resolved in the interest of peace and development.
The governor said he had aligned with the Rainbow Coalition, a political movement associated with his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, to promote unity and strengthen the ruling party in Rivers State.
Addressing supporters, Fubara urged them to put aside past disagreements and work collectively for the success of Tinubu, Chinda, and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
He said the era of political confrontation was over and called on Rivers people to embrace peace and cooperation.
“We have made peace in the state.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our president, and he is the one we are supporting.
”Kingsley Chinda is the governorship candidate that I am supporting,” the governor said.
Fubara stressed that his position was clear, urging supporters not to associate him with any political movement outside the Rainbow Coalition.
According to him, Rivers State could only make meaningful progress when political actors focus on unity, development, and the welfare of the people.
The governor also used the occasion to highlight the importance of the Riven Medical Industries Project, describing it as a major investment that would contribute to industrial growth, healthcare development, and job creation in the state.
However, he warned against past experiences where investors failed to meet agreed obligations, leading to disputes and legal battles.
Fubara said the state government approved the project because of its confidence in the capacity and commitment of the new investors to revive the facility and deliver on its objectives.
He urged the investors to meet project timelines, particularly the completion of the first phase within three months, while calling on host communities and the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area leadership to provide a peaceful environment for the project.
The governor assured that his administration would continue to support the initiative to ensure its success.
The Riven Medical Industries Project is a public-private partnership between the Rivers State Government and Enbay Pharmaceutical Industries Limited aimed at transforming the former Integrated Medical Industries (IMI) into a modern pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
When completed, the project is expected to produce pharmaceutical products, including drug formulations, gelatin capsules, intravenous infusions, and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
The facility is projected to increase local medicine production, reduce dependence on imported drugs, create employment opportunities, encourage technology transfer, and position Rivers State as a major healthcare manufacturing hub in Nigeria and West Africa.
The groundbreaking ceremony marked the commencement of what the state government described as a strategic step towards industrialisation, economic diversification, and improved healthcare delivery.
