The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has moved to address internal disagreements from its recent primary elections with the formation of a seven-member National Reconciliation Committee.
The committee, according to the party, will focus on resolving complaints from aspirants across the country and rebuilding unity ahead of future political activities.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the NDC National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, and National Secretary, Mr. Ikenna Enekweizu, said the reconciliation body would engage affected aspirants and work toward finding lasting solutions to outstanding grievances.
The committee will be led by renowned political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi, as chairman, while former political figure Buba Galadima will serve as co-chairman.
Other members of the panel include Mohammed Takori as vice chairman, Mr. Babatunde Alli as secretary, Mrs. Dudu Manuga, Salvador Moshood, and Alhaji Haruna Pai.
The party also created three zonal sub-committees to strengthen the reconciliation process across the North, South-South, and South-East geopolitical zones.
The NDC said the National Reconciliation Committee would be formally inaugurated at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, Aug. 6.
The move reflects the party’s effort to settle post-primary tensions, promote inclusiveness, and ensure greater cohesion among members as it prepares for the next phase of its political activities.
