Delta clerics back Oborevwori’s second-term bid
Religious leaders and church workers in Delta have thrown their weight behind Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s re-election bid, praising his administration’s achievements and commitment to improving the lives of residents.
The endorsement came during a special prayer and solidarity programme held in Asaba, where members of the Forum of Ministers and Church Workers offered prayers for the governor, Delta State, and Nigeria.
National President of the Forum, Prophet Peter Daniel, said the decision followed what he described as the governor’s impressive record in infrastructure, governance, and people-focused policies over the past three years.
According to him, Oborevwori’s performance has inspired confidence among Deltans and earned the support of the religious community.
Prophet Daniel noted that the Forum is committed to promoting peace, unity, and national development through prayer and advocacy.
He also urged the Federal Government to complement military operations against insecurity with dialogue and reconciliation, insisting that lasting peace requires collective engagement.
“The use of force alone has not yielded the desired results. Lasting peace can only be achieved through inclusive engagement and collective commitment to national unity.”
He assured that the Forum would continue to pray for the nation’s peace, security, and progress.
Responding through the State Coordinator of Religious Matters, Rev. Cyril Okonye, Governor Oborevwori expressed appreciation for the endorsement and the continuous prayers from the religious community.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on his MORE Agenda, promising to intensify development efforts and improve the welfare of all Deltans.
He also appealed to religious leaders to remain steadfast in praying for leaders across all levels of government, stressing that peace, unity, and divine guidance are essential for good governance.
Also speaking, members of the Delta State Executive Council, Dr. Kingsley Ashibuogwu and Mr. Smart Ufoh, applauded the administration’s accomplishments across key sectors, expressing confidence that another term would help complete ongoing projects and drive even greater development across the state.
The gathering ended with special prayers for the governor, Delta State, and Nigeria.
