Alhabibiyyah tasks women on building responsible family

The National Chief Imam of Alhabibiyyah Organisation, Fuad Adeyemi, has admonished Muslim women to be productive in order to build a strong and responsible family.
He said that it was part of the obligations on women to not only obey their husbands, but also support them to raise a godly family worthy of emulation.
The Imam gave the advice in a lecture he delivered during the 5th Anniversary of Amani Muslim Women Empowerment Initiative, an all women cooperative, on Saturday in Abuja.
Adeyemi said that Muslims must go beyond adhering to the core pillars of Islam to projecting good character and empowering those around them with skills and other tools to be productive and contribute meaningfully to the society.
He also said that the propagation of the religion should change to reflect current realities by supporting people to grow and have means of livelihood with which to pay Zakat, one of the five pillars of Islam.
The Imam admonished the women to imbibe the “social way of worshipping Allah”, by avoiding vices such as immodest dressing, backbiting, and looking down on others, so as to earn the favour of Allah.
Adeyemi further said that justice must be entrenched in governance, the family and society in order to have a peaceful and secure society.
He commended the organisation for building a community that thrives on collaboration and contributing to the growth of the society.
Earlier, Hajiya Hadrat Omipidan, the Coordinator of the organisation, said they have empowered more than 100 members with over N150 million.
“In the last five years, we have consistently reached out to orphanages and correctional centres, including reaching out to the less privileged during the month of Ramadan,” she said.
She commended the women empowerment programmes announced by the Federal Government and called for concrete actions to ensure the success of the initiatives.
Omipidan advocated for the participation of more women in governance to enhance Nigeria’s development.
She urged the National Assembly to amend the Constitution to create special quota for women across political bodies, to empower Nigerian women in all spheres.
“I’m convinced that when women are empowered politically, the entire nation and our generation will be empowered.
“Nigerian women have done well in virtually all spheres of life and proving themselves in vocations that were initially preserved for men like automobile mechanics, commercial driving, and shoe making among others.
“We have shown high level of integrity and are usually very passionate with regards to call to service.”
The Chairman of the occasion, Sen. Saliu Mustapha, represented by Salman Salman, pledged to work with the organisation to promote women in business, politics and other endeavours.
In her message, Halima Buba, Managing Director of SunTrust Bank, said that the bank has been supporting women, including women Uber drivers to purchase their own vehicles.
She encouraged the organisation to patronise the bank’s non-interest banking portfolio to benefit from its various products.
Eleven women who excelled in various spheres of life, were honoured by the organisation.
