The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reiterated the party’s commitment to give opportunity to youths especially Christian youths to serve as Ward Executives.
The PDP Youth Leader in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta, Mr Felix Eboh disclosed in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Asaba.
Ebo said that giving the youths opportunity to youths especially those that are Christians to serve as executives at ward level, would help them to embrace politics as well as build their confidence in politics.
Eboh, who stressed the importance of involving Christian youths in politics, said,”it will help to bring the fear of God in our political terrain.
”Youths have vital roles to play in Nigeria politics especially in the areas of new innovations.
”We as members of the PDP in Oshimili South Local Government Areas of Delta, are also encouraging them to register with our party in order to help them get acquainted with the rudiments of politics.”
He also said, ”we are starting this initiative at Oshimili South local government area because it is the state capital where you have different ethnic nationalities.
”We are willing to give them opportunity to serve at the ward levels for a start, irrespective of their tribe and ethnicity to build their political skills.
”For each wards in Oshimili South, we are giving Christian youths two slots in each of the ward executive.
”And later we will extend the gesture to the other local government areas of the State.
”Being part of ward executives, they will be abreast of the activities of the party as well as contribute their quota to the growth and development of the party.
”Another reason why we are encouraging Christian youths to key into PDP politics is for them to be able to correct what we are not doing well.
”For myself, I started as a youth leader of my ward and from there, I grew to the position of financial secretary and today I am the local government PDP youth leader. And
from here, only God knows where he is taking me to.”
Eboh further said that being involved in politics would also help them to access government empowerment programmes which would be of great benefits to them.
”I will also use this opportunity to advise youth in Delta, especially youths in Oshimili South LGA to take advantage of the various empowerment programmes being offered by the State and Federal governments especially the various skill acquisition programmes
”Even if you are a graduate, acquiring a vocational skill is not out of place, because it will make you self reliant.
”There is nothing wrong with having multiple sources of income even if you have a government job.
”Nigeria today, for you to really make impact in your life and people around you, you need to acquire skills that would make you self reliant and also provide you a source of livelihood.” NAN
