Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa has congratulated Finidi George, as the newly appointed Head Coach of the Super Eagles.
Diri stated this during the draws for the 2024 Bayelsa Governor’s Cup Tournament at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa on Thursday.
He commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for appointing the new Super Eagles tactician based on merit.
The governor commended the NFF for appointing a son of the soil for the prestigious job.
“Let me use this opportunity to appreciate the NFF for appointing one of our own as coach of the Super Eagles, a son of the soil.
“We all know Finidi George as a professional footballer nationally and internationally and he decided to take on a coaching career.
“So I believe George got it on his own merit and he is going to serve Nigeria. But he has to know that he is also from Bayelsa,” he said.
Diri wished George well and assured him that the state would support him and the NFF to succeed.
