Guwor lauds Oborevwori on infrastructure development
The Speaker of the Delta House of Assembly, Mr Dennis Guwor has lauded Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori for his infrastructure development projects in the last one year in office.
Guwor gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen on Thursday in Asaba.
He said that the governor was resolute upon resumption of office on May 29, 202 in his desire to develop the Warri/Effirun axis, alongside other parts of the state.
“He mentioned that he will be concentrating on the Warri axis in terms of development as well as reaching out to other parts of the state.
”Within a short while when he assumed office, he awarded a N78 billion contract to Julius Berger, first of its kind in Delta.
“From 1999 in this democracy we are celebrating, no governor has brought Julius Berger to Delta.
”But the governor thought it’s wise that Julius Berger is a reputable firm that can deliver in teens of major roads infrastructure projects in the state,’’ he said.
He added: ”As I speak with you, work is ongoing. Four flyovers in Warri/Effurun area are also ongoing.
”The contractor is working assiduously to achieve the time line of that project.’’
Guwor also said that apart from the new projects being embarked on by the governor, there were other projects that were being executed by the government.
‘’When the governor came into power, inherited some ongoing projects and by God’s grace in the next few days, thereabouts, he will be going round to inaugurate different projects across the state.
”Just recently, we were in the riverine areas to inspect ongoing projects.
”A completed hostel administrative block laboratory and 12 classrooms for Ogulaha Model School built and furnished by Delta State Oil Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).
”And by the grace of God that project is completed and will be ready for commissioning in the next few days,’’ he said.
He said that there were bridge across the state, such as the Beneku bridge in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the state and so many other ongoing bridge projects that were near completion.
”Oborevwori is consolidating in the gains that had been achieved by the past administration.
“Though he is awarding new projects, but at the same time consolidating on ongoing projects and completing them.
”A major project in that direction is the Asaba-Ughelli Dualisation road project.
”That project is on top gear. Some sections of the project is completed and the remaining part will be completed in no distance time by this administration.
”I can boldly say that the governor is also doing well in the area of infrastructure in all areas of the state.
” And by the grace of God, he is going to commission some of the projects in his one year in office, ” Guwor said.
