Ekiti PDP alleges plot to discredit governorship primary

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised the alarm of plans to discredit the recently conducted governorship primary that produced Dr. Wole Oluyede as its candidate.
The party leaders in the state raised the alarm on Monday at a news conference in Ado-Ekiti.
Dr. Oluyede on Saturday emerged PDP candidate for the 2026 governorship election in the state, defeating three other aspirants.
The party leaders said that facts abound that there were plans by those they did not specifically mention, to upturn the outcome of the primary.
The PDP leaders, including Mr Deji Ogunsakin, Segun Adeola, Makanjuola Ogundipe and Kola Oluwawole, called on the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, in his capacity as a leader of the party in the South-West, not to allow such move to succeed.
They also asked the PDP leaders at the national level, to stop the plot by those they described as ‘enemies of the party’, to upturn the choice of the people.
“Let it be known that Dr Wole Oluyede, is the choice of the people, we have decided to win the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti through him, and there is no going back on this resolve,” the leaders stated.
According to them, those planning and making the move to upturn the primary, which was free, fair and credible election, are enemies of the people.
“Enough is enough. We do not want anybody to sell us cheaply to the APC. APC is aware that we have chosen a credible candidate that can win the 2026 election for us.
“They are trying to upturn the results in favour of somebody that was not accepted at the poll.
“The people have voted, they voted according to their conscience. They voted for the man they believed can give the PDP victory at the poll.
“The election was conducted, and the results were announced by Sen. Ibrahim Dankwabo, former Governor and former Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), under a peaceful and credible atmosphere,” the party leaders said.
