Dickson hosts Bayelsa West stakeholders

Former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, on Monday held a closed-door meeting with key political stakeholders from Bayelsa West Senatorial District, as consultations intensify over emerging political developments in the state.
The delegation, led by respected elder statesman Hon. Fyneman Wilson, included Dr. Osusu, Chief Suru Oyarede, and other prominent leaders from the district.
Discussions centred on the evolving political landscape and strategies for sustained engagement within the state and the wider Niger Delta region.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Dickson expressed appreciation for what he described as “unwavering solidarity” from leaders and citizens of Bayelsa State.
He extended gratitude to supporters across the Ijaw nation, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria at large for their goodwill messages and prayers.
In a related development, the senator also received the pro-tem leadership of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) in Bayelsa State.
The delegation was introduced by the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas.
Members of the state pro-tem executive include Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo (State Chairman), Dr. Pabara Igwele (Deputy Chairman), Hon. Tesufa Alex Dumbo (Secretary), and Prince Mac-Ake (Publicity Secretary), alongside other party officials.
Also present were Professor Opuala Charles and Chief Williams from Nembe, who paid a solidarity visit.
Senator Dickson urged the new party leaders to focus on building a formidable grassroots-driven structure anchored on peaceful engagement and broad-based participation.
He emphasised the importance of non-violent political mobilisation, respect for differing viewpoints, and constructive engagement in a multiparty democracy.
According to him, political competition must remain civil, noting that divergent platforms are a natural feature of democratic systems.
He charged the pro-tem executives to propagate the party’s ideals with decorum while fostering unity across communities.
The senator further called on stakeholders to actively support ward and local government structures expected to be established across Bayelsa State.
He encouraged citizens to take ownership of the movement and shape it in line with local aspirations and priorities.
Dickson reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive political participation and grassroots empowerment, declaring confidence in the emerging structure of the NDC in Bayelsa.
