Chelsea sack Rosenior after poor run

Chelsea have dismissed head coach Liam Rosenior following a disastrous run of results that saw the club slump into poor form in the Premier League.
The decision was confirmed on Wednesday after Chelsea’s 3–0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, a result that extended their losing streak to five consecutive league matches without scoring.
The club described the run as unacceptable, noting that it marked the first time since 1912 that Chelsea had lost five straight league games without finding the net.
In an official statement, the club said Rosenior had been relieved of his duties despite being in charge for just over three months after arriving from French side Strasbourg, which is linked to Chelsea’s ownership structure.
“Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Liam Rosenior,” the statement read.
“Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season.
“This has not been a decision the Club has taken lightly, however recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season.”
Chelsea added that assistant coach Calum McFarlane will take charge on an interim basis, beginning with a high-stakes FA Cup semi-final clash against Leeds United.
Rosenior’s short spell in charge comes to an end with the club struggling in the league, sitting seven points outside the Champions League qualification places.
The team’s poor form and lack of goals ultimately forced the board’s decision, as pressure continues to mount at Stamford Bridge.
Attention now turns to the search for a permanent replacement, while McFarlane prepares to steady the team during a crucial phase of the season.
