Obi has 60% ADC ticket chance – Ulasi

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has said former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stands a strong chance of clinching the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket, estimating his odds at about 60 percent amid ongoing opposition consultations and coalition negotiations.
Speaking during an interview with ARISE News on Thursday, Ulasi said Nigeria’s opposition landscape is undergoing gradual but significant realignments that could reshape political alliances ahead of the next general election.
He argued that emerging collaborations between major political figures are part of a broader effort to build national political bridges.
According to him, the developing relationship often described as the “Peter Obi–Kwankwaso effect” reflects growing cross-regional influence and strategic engagement within the opposition bloc.
“The Peter Obi–Rabiu Kwankwaso effect is part of the gradual process we are building up across the country, building bridges across this country.
”Kwankwaso is not a name you throw out in the North. Neither is Peter Obi a name you throw out in the South.”
Ulasi stressed that both politicians command substantial followings in their respective regions, adding that their influence makes them central figures in ongoing coalition discussions.
“Kwankwaso is not a name you throw out in the North. Neither is Peter Obi a name you throw out in the South, the gradual process we are building across the country, building bridges across this country, ” he said.
He also noted that the current political engagements should not be dismissed as mere speculation, insisting they form part of a structured effort to consolidate opposition strength.
“So these are part of the discussion, and what is happening is part of the gradual process we are building across this country, building bridges across this country.
”What I’m saying is that the Peter Obi–Kwankwaso effect is part of the gradual process, ” he added.
