Man City stage late comeback to reach FA Cup Final

Manchester City came from behind to defeat Southampton 2-1 and book a record fourth consecutive FA Cup final appearance, keeping their hopes of a domestic treble alive.

On Sunday, May 4, 2026, at Wembley Stadium, Pep Guardiola’s side, already winners of the Carabao Cup this season secured another final berth, where they will face either Chelsea or Leeds United.

Guardiola made eight changes to the side that defeated Burnley in midweek, and City struggled to find rhythm in a disjointed first half.

Omar Marmoush came closest to scoring, but Southampton goalkeeper Daniel Peretz denied him at the near post.

Southampton thought they had broken the deadlock before halftime through Leo Scienza, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The Championship side remained competitive after the restart, with Ross Stewart forcing a save from James Trafford, while substitute Savinho tested Peretz again at the other end.

The game shifted dramatically in the final stages.

Finn Azaz put Southampton ahead in the 79th minute with a stunning curling strike from distance, sparking a tense finish.

City responded quickly, with Jeremy Doku levelling the match just two minutes later after his deflected shot beat the goalkeeper.

As extra time loomed, Nico González struck decisively, smashing home the winner to complete a late turnaround and send City into another Wembley final.
