Galadima urges Atiku to join NDC

A chieftain of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has called on former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to join the party as part of efforts to strengthen opposition unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Galadima made the appeal during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Monday where he said leading opposition figures were already aligning under the NDC to build a strong coalition capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He noted that the ongoing realignments were aimed at creating a formidable political front, stressing that unity among opposition leaders would be critical in the next electoral cycle.

According to him, there are concerns that the current administration could deploy legal strategies to weaken opposition movements, making consolidation under a single platform even more urgent.

Galadima warned that if Atiku chooses not to join the NDC, he could bear responsibility for any failure to unify opposition forces before the elections.

He, however, acknowledged that the final decision rests with the former vice-president.
