Delta City Boy Movement targets 2.7m APC votes

The Delta State chapter of the City Boy Movement has pledged to deliver 2.7 million votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections, as part of a wider national mobilisation target of 10 million votes in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The commitment was made during the inauguration of the movement’s state executive council and the unveiling of its secretariat at the Dome Events Centre in Asaba, the Delta State capital, where a large gathering of supporters, youths, and political stakeholders was recorded.
At the event, the newly inaugurated leadership of the movement in Delta State was announced as follows: Hon. Karo Goru as State Director, Engr. Alex Omaghomi as Deputy Director, Hon. Innocent Esewezie as State Coordinator, Hon. Shedrach Agediga as Deputy State Coordinator, Engr. Michael Anoka as State Leader, and Comrade Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole as State Secretary.
The leadership pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state in line with the national objective of expanding APC’s electoral base.
Government urges political sensitisation
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented at the event by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Dennis Guwor, described the movement as a growing political force with strong organisational capacity.
He expressed confidence in its structure and encouraged members to actively promote government policies and programmes across communities.
Guwor stressed that several Federal Government reforms were still being misunderstood by citizens, urging the group to step up public enlightenment efforts.
He specifically mentioned policies such as tax reforms, fuel subsidy removal, and youth-focused initiatives, noting that members of the movement should function as ambassadors of both President Tinubu and APC candidates at all levels.
According to him, effective mobilisation and education of the public would translate into stronger electoral outcomes for the party.
In their separate remarks, State Director Hon. Karo Goru and State Coordinator Hon. Innocent Esewezie reaffirmed the movement’s readiness to work across communities to secure strong voter support for the APC.
They said the group was committed to ensuring that Delta State contributes significantly to the national target of 10 million votes.
Delivering a keynote address, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, described the inauguration as a significant milestone, noting that young people must play active roles in governance and political participation.
He said Nigeria was currently undergoing difficult but necessary economic reforms under President Tinubu, adding that the policies were aimed at long-term stability and growth.
Aniagwu pointed to improvements in economic indicators such as rising foreign reserves and moderating inflation, while also referencing developments in agriculture, taxation, and the energy sector, including the impact of the Dangote Refinery.
The National Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Francis Shoga, who formally inaugurated the state executive, described the organisation as a structured platform for youth engagement, leadership development, and political participation.
He stressed that the movement was built on discipline, coordination, and organisation, distinguishing it from past youth political platforms that, according to him, failed due to lack of structure.
Shoga urged the new leadership to strengthen grassroots networks across all local government areas, ensuring visibility and effectiveness in their mobilisation efforts.
He also emphasised unity among members, noting that coordinated action would be key to achieving the group’s electoral targets.
The event marked a major expansion of the City Boy Movement in Delta State, further consolidating its presence ahead of the forthcoming elections.
