NFF appoints Maikaba, Uwejamomere to junior teams

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the appointment of experienced tactician Abdu Maikaba as head coach of the Flying Eagles, while Eboboritse Uwejamomere has been named head coach of the Golden Eaglets.
The decision followed recommendations from the NFF Technical and Development Committee as part of broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s youth national teams ahead of upcoming international competitions.
Maikaba returns to the national team structure with significant coaching experience across Nigeria’s domestic football scene.
He previously handled the Golden Eaglets and also served as assistant coach of the Flying Eagles during Paul Aigbogun’s tenure.
Over the years, he has managed top Nigerian clubs including Enyimba FC, Kano Pillars, Plateau United, and Wikki Tourists.
He also guided Akwa United to victory in the 2017 President Federation Cup, earning recognition as one of the country’s respected coaches.
Uwejamomere, newly appointed head coach of the Golden Eaglets, brings extensive youth development and technical experience to the role.
He has worked as a coach-analyst with both the Super Eagles and Super Falcons, and currently serves as head of academy at Sporting Lagos FC.
His background also includes youth development roles with English clubs Millwall FC, Gillingham FC, and Nottingham Forest FC, as well as a coaching stint at Stormers FC in Abeokuta.
Meanwhile, action continued in the National Playoffs of the President Federation Cup across both men’s and women’s categories.
In the women’s matches, NAF Queens defeated Model Queens 3–1, Mighty Jets Mata beat Kada Queens 3–1, Ikukuoma Queens edged Bayelsa Princesses 2–1, while Esthinghton FC overcame Zorha Queens 2–1.
In the men’s fixtures, Sunshine U19 recorded a 3–1 win over Harmony FC, while G12 FC progressed after a 3–2 penalty shootout victory over Dokkal Khairu FC following a goalless draw.
Westgate FC secured a 2–0 win against Amanda FC, Kanta Warriors defeated Zamfara United Feeders 3–0, and Adamawa Academy advanced after a dramatic 8–7 penalty shootout win over El-Kanemi Warriors Jnr following a 3–3 draw.
The biggest margin of the round came from Sporting Supreme U19, who thrashed Reighner FC 5–0 to underline their dominance in the competition
