APC governors back Uzodimma

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of the Progressive Governors Forum chairman, Hope Uzodimma, and vice-chairman, Uba Sani.

The endorsement came during a closed-door meeting of APC governors in Abuja, where members of the forum reaffirmed their support for the leadership amid reports of internal disagreements.

Governor Nasir Idris moved the motion expressing confidence in Uzodimma’s leadership, while Governor Uba Sani seconded it.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, Idris dismissed rumours suggesting that Uzodimma had been removed as chairman of the forum.

According to him, the governors remained united behind the Imo State governor and were committed to maintaining stability within the forum.

He disclosed that more than 18 governors attended the meeting and reaffirmed their confidence in the existing leadership structure.

Idris said the fact that Uzodimma presided over the meeting alongside his deputy clearly demonstrated that the leadership of the forum remained intact.

The Kebbi governor also urged journalists to exercise caution in reporting political developments and advised media organisations to verify information from credible sources before publication.

Speaking during the briefing, Uzodimma maintained that the forum remained united and would not be distracted by what he described as fake news.

He stated that the governors were currently focused on mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

“As you are aware, just two days ago, we accompanied Vice President Kashim Shettima to submit the nomination forms of President Tinubu, signifying that he is recontesting.

”We have just concluded a meeting to reaffirm our unflinching support for him,” Uzodimma said.

The PGF chairman noted that the governors had resolved to fully support Tinubu’s re-election bid and would not allow political distractions to weaken their commitment.

According to him, the governors’ backing for the president was based on ongoing economic reforms and infrastructure programmes introduced by the administration.

Uzodimma further urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition to enable the continuation of policies and reforms already initiated by the federal government.
