Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Al Nassr clinched the Saudi Pro League title with a commanding 4-1 victory over Damac on the final day of the season.

The victory ended Ronaldo’s long wait for a major domestic trophy since joining the Saudi club in 2023 and secured Al Nassr’s first league title in years after edging rivals Al Hilal by two points.

Ronaldo delivered a trademark performance in the decisive encounter, scoring a stunning free-kick in the 63rd minute before adding a close-range finish nine minutes from time to seal the championship triumph.

The Portuguese star, visibly emotional after the final whistle, was seen celebrating passionately with teammates and supporters as Al Nassr confirmed the league crown.

The 41-year-old forward now adds the Saudi Pro League title to league championships won in England, Spain and Italy, alongside his five UEFA Champions League medals.

Earlier in the match, Senegalese forward Sadio Mane played a key role in Al Nassr’s attacking display, helping the team establish an early advantage before Ronaldo’s late heroics secured the victory.

Ronaldo’s latest triumph further strengthens his remarkable football legacy, with his career goal tally now standing at 973 moving him closer to the historic 1,000-goal milestone.

The title also marks a significant moment in Saudi football’s global ambitions, with Ronaldo widely regarded as the player who opened the door for a wave of high-profile international stars to move to the Saudi Pro League.

Following his arrival in Saudi Arabia in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United, several global stars, including Neymar Jr. and Karim Benzema, joined clubs in the kingdom as part of efforts to raise the profile of Saudi football.

Ronaldo had previously endured disappointments during his time at Al Nassr, including losing the King’s Cup final to Al Hilal in 2024 and missing out on other domestic and continental titles.

Before Thursday’s triumph, his only trophy with the club was the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup.

The Saudi title victory now serves as a major breakthrough for both Ronaldo and Al Nassr as the club seeks to establish itself as a dominant force in Asian and Middle Eastern football.

Attention will now shift to international football, with Ronaldo recently named in Portugal’s squad ahead of what could become his sixth FIFA World Cup appearance.
