Kwankwasiyya dismisses Kano Govt media aide’s statements on Kwankwaso

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has strongly criticised comments made by the Director General of Media and Publicity to the Kano State Government, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, during an appearance on Arise Television, describing his remarks as reckless, inconsistent and driven by political desperation.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the movement’s Publicity Secretary, Habib Mohammed, the group dismissed the comments as “confused political speculation,” but said it was compelled to respond in order to correct what it called deliberate misinformation about Kano politics and the national political landscape.
The statement read in part: “First, it is both shocking and embarrassing that a government spokesperson could go on national television to openly promote rumours, assumptions and fabricated political gossip as official communication.
“One moment, he claims Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is working for President Bola Tinubu; the next moment, he says Kwankwaso has thrown the opposition into disarray.
”These contradictions clearly expose the confusion within their camp.”
The movement questioned the logic behind the claims, arguing that the rising attention on Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso reflects his continued political relevance.
“If Kwankwaso is politically irrelevant as they want Nigerians to believe, why then is the entire machinery of government obsessed with his movements, meetings and political decisions on a daily basis?” the statement asked.
It further alleged that the growing acceptance of the Kwankwasiyya Movement across the country had unsettled political actors who now regard Kwankwaso as one of Nigeria’s most influential political figures.
The group also clarified that Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa was not an official spokesperson of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) or the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
“He merely served as media aide and spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during his political journey in both the Peoples Democratic Party and later the NNPP,” it stated.
The statement added: “Therefore, it is dishonest and misleading for him to present himself as someone with knowledge of internal consultations, strategic discussions or high-level political negotiations involving Senator Kwankwaso and the Kwankwasiyya leadership.”
It concluded that Bature lacked the authority or standing to speak on the internal political decisions, alliances or consultations of the movement.
