Ogboru clinches ADC governorship ticket in Delta

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially confirmed business mogul, Chief Great Ogboru, as its governorship candidate for Delta State following the party’s primary election held on Monday across the state.
Ogboru secured a total of 38,151 votes to defeat his sole opponent, Dr. Emmanuel Unuafe, who polled 1,182 votes in an exercise that covered all 25 local government areas of the state.
The results were announced by the Chairman of the ADC Primary Election Committee, Prof. Sambo Williams, at the party secretariat in Asaba.
Williams stated that the exercise was conducted in an orderly and peaceful atmosphere, noting that all aspirants were given equal opportunity in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
He explained that the primaries, which also produced candidates for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions, reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy and transparency.
According to him, the smooth conduct of the election demonstrated ADC’s readiness and organisational strength ahead of the 2027 general elections in Delta State.
He urged all contestants and party stakeholders to accept the outcome in good faith and work together for the unity and progress of the party, stressing that collective interest must take precedence over individual ambitions.
Williams also expressed appreciation to members of the election committee, security agencies, delegates, and party supporters for their cooperation, which he said contributed to the peaceful nature of the exercise.
Following the announcement, supporters of Ogboru trooped out in celebration at the party secretariat in Asaba, expressing optimism that the former governorship candidate would strengthen the party’s chances in the forthcoming general elections.
They described his emergence as a significant boost for the ADC, saying it positions the party as a stronger contender in Delta State politics ahead of the 2027 polls.
