Peter Obi denies claims of NDC primary results

The media office Presidential aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Peter Obi, has dismissed as false and misleading the purported vote figures currently circulating online in connection with an alleged presidential primary election conducted by NDC.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Peter Obi Media Reach, popularly known as POMR, described the widely circulated figures as fabricated and lacking any basis in reality.
The statement, signed by POMR spokesman, Ibrahim Umar, clarified that no such primary election took place and that no official voting figures were generated from any process involving Peter Obi.
According to the statement, the attention of the media office was drawn to reports making rounds on social media platforms and some news outlets, claiming to present the breakdown of votes from a purported NDC primary election in which Obi allegedly participated.
POMR categorically rejected the claims, insisting that the figures being attributed to the former Anambra State governor were entirely false and should be disregarded by the public.
“We wish to state categorically that these figures are entirely false, fabricated, as such, the primary never took place and no figure was generated from any process,” the statement read.
The media office further urged party supporters, members of the public, and media organizations to rely only on verified and officially authorised communication channels for accurate information concerning Peter Obi’s political activities and engagements.
It stressed that any official statement relating to political processes involving Obi would always be properly communicated and duly signed through recognised platforms.
POMR also accused those responsible for circulating the alleged figures of attempting to drag Peter Obi into what it described as fraudulent political activities.
“Those behind this fraudulent figure attribution to Peter Obi are looking for partners in their fraud but they should look elsewhere, not with Peter Obi,” the statement added.
The clarification comes amid increasing political speculation and heightened public discourse surrounding alignments, consultations, and party activities ahead of future electoral contests in Nigeria.
Political observers believed the statement was aimed at protecting the integrity of Obi’s political image and preventing misinformation capable of misleading supporters and the general public.
