Super Eagles begin camp ahead Poland, Portugal tests

 

The Nigeria national football team has officially opened its training camp in Warsaw, Poland, as preparations intensify for upcoming international friendly matches against Poland and Portugal.

The squad arrived in the Polish capital in the early hours of Monday, fresh from their successful outing at the 2026 Unity Cup in London, where they impressed with strong performances.

According to the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, 18 players were already in camp at the time of reporting.

He also noted that 16 of them participated in the team’s first training session held on Monday evening, marking the start of active preparations.

Among the players currently in camp are Maduka Okoye, Francis Uzoho, Arthur Okonkwo, Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Akor Adams, Terem Moffi, Tochukwu Nnadi, Emmanuel Fernandez, Semi Ajayi, Rafiu Durosinmi, Paul Onuachu, Zaidu Sanusi, Igho Ogbu, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka, Bruno Onyemaechi, and Abdullahi Ibrahim.

Head coach Eric Chelle has also confirmed that key forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman would not be part of the squad for the friendlies.

He explained that Osimhen has been granted time to resolve his club future, while Lookman was excused at the request of his club, Atlético Madrid, to recover after a demanding season.

The team is scheduled to face Poland on Wednesday, June 3, in Warsaw, before travelling to Portugal for another friendly against the Portuguese national side on Wednesday, June 10, in Leiria.

Officials said the matches are part of ongoing efforts to build squad depth and assess player readiness ahead of future competitive fixtures.
