Fubara Hails Fathers as Pillars of Society on Father’s Day

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers has described fathers as the backbone of families and society, commending their sacrifices, resilience, and commitment to raising responsible children.
In a goodwill message to mark the 2026 Father’s Day celebration, Governor Fubara paid tribute to fathers across Rivers State and Nigeria, noting that their daily efforts continue to sustain homes and strengthen communities.
The governor, in a statement issued by his media aide, Onwuka Nzeshi, acknowledged the challenges faced by fathers across the state’s 23 local government areas, particularly in the face of prevailing economic pressures.
He observed that despite these difficulties, many fathers remain committed to their responsibilities, working tirelessly to provide for their families and secure a better future for their children.
According to him, Father’s Day offers an opportunity to recognise the often-unseen sacrifices made by men who continue to hold families together through perseverance and selflessness.
“A father’s love is expressed through quiet strength.
“It is the man who leaves home early and returns late, determined to ensure his children are fed, educated, and cared for. It is discipline balanced with compassion, ” he said.
Fubara further noted that fathers represent the “invisible foundation” upon which stable homes and productive societies are built, adding that their sacrifices deserve greater recognition and appreciation.
He also commended the resilience of fathers who endure hardship, including economic struggles and difficult living conditions, in order to give the next generation better opportunities.
“I have seen fathers labour under the sun, navigate floods, and push through hardship, all in a bid to secure a better future for their children. That is a form of heroism that often goes unnoticed,” he said.
The governor assured that his administration remains committed to policies that reflect the values of dedication, sacrifice, and hard work demonstrated by fathers across the state.
He wished all fathers a happy celebration and prayed for continued strength, good health, and success in their responsibilities as heads of families.
