Nigeria’s 16-Year-Old Becomes Youngest Chartered Accountant

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has congratulated 16-year-old Osasere Okundaye after she emerged as Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant, describing the achievement as a powerful symbol of youth potential in the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, Olawande praised Okundaye’s discipline, resilience and commitment to excellence, saying her success reflects what Nigerian youths can achieve with determination and the right support system.

The minister said the teenager has set a new national benchmark and positioned herself as an inspiration to other young Nigerians aspiring to excel in professional fields.

Olawande also commended her parents, teachers and mentors for what he described as their sacrifices and consistent support, noting that strong guidance played a key role in her academic success.

He added that the Federal Ministry of Youth Development remained committed to policies and programmes that empower young Nigerians to realise their full potential, stressing that Okundaye’s milestone reinforces confidence in the country’s future human capital.

Okundaye’s record-breaking feat followed a similar achievement last year by 18-year-old Temilola Blossom Arise, a University of Ilorin student who also qualified as a chartered accountant after passing all professional examinations.
