Haaland Fires Norway Past Ivory Coast

Norway have booked their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 after a 2–1 victory over Ivory Coast, with Erling Haaland scoring a late winner to seal qualification and set up a last-16 clash with Brazil.

Ivory Coast controlled possession for much of the encounter with patient passing, but struggled to break through Norway’s compact defensive setup, while the Europeans relied on counter-attacks to create chances.

Norway took the lead in the 39th minute through Antonio Nusa, who curled a fine strike into the top corner after being played through by captain Martin Ødegaard.

Ivory Coast responded strongly in the second half and levelled in the 74th minute through substitute Amad Diallo, who combined sharply with Nicolas Pépé before finishing low past the goalkeeper.

However, Norway restored their advantage in the 85th minute when Patrick Berg set up Haaland, who finished clinically to secure all three points for his side.

The result sends Norway into the Round of 16, where they will face Brazil, while Ivory Coast exit the tournament after a hard-fought contest.
