NDC denies Odebala governorship candidacy claim

The Delta State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed as false a social media publication claiming Chief Ejaife Odebala emerged as the party’s governorship flag bearer, describing the report as fake and unauthorised.

In a disclaimer signed by State Publicity Secretary, Chief McCollins Nwose, on the directive of State Chairman, Chief Dr. Richman Oyindoubra, and State Secretary, Barrister Philip Adu Odogu, the party condemned the publication as fabricated, fraudulent, and misleading.

The NDC stated that it had neither conducted a governorship primary election nor endorsed any individual as its Delta State governorship candidate, insisting that every contrary claim was deliberately designed to deceive the public.

According to the party, any decision concerning the nomination of a governorship candidate would only emerge through constitutionally recognized organs and be officially communicated by duly authorised party leaders using established channels.

It noted that the disputed publication was suspicious because it bore the vague signature of an unnamed “National Leadership” without identifying recognized party officials or providing any constitutional authorization for the announcement.

The party accused those behind the publication of attempting to sow discord, create confusion within its ranks, and mislead members of the public in pursuit of selfish political interests and personal ambitions.

Reaffirming its commitment to constitutional democracy, the NDC stressed that it remains governed by its constitution, established procedures, and the rule of law, leaving no room for unauthorised declarations or candidate imposition.

The leadership urged party faithful, stakeholders, supporters, and the general public to disregard the fake announcement and refrain from circulating misinformation capable of creating unnecessary tension and disaffection among members.

It further warned those responsible for the alleged impersonation to desist from dragging the party’s name into activities capable of undermining its unity, credibility, and democratic ideals across Delta State.

The NDC assured members that all official communications on party affairs would continue to emanate only from duly authorized leaders through recognised channels, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, unity, and internal democratic processes.
