Senator Seriake Dickson, founder and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed appreciation to community leaders, women, and youth groups in Bayelsa West Senatorial District for their unwavering support as the party intensifies preparations ahead of future elections.
Dickson, reacting to reports and photographs from meetings of NDC women and youth support groups in Ekeremor Town, Ward 8, and the Community Leaders Forum in Ekeremor Local Government Area, commended party faithful for standing by him despite his prolonged absence from the district.
According to the former Bayelsa State governor, he has spent the past eight months in Abuja coordinating efforts to build what he described as a credible alternative opposition platform for Nigerians.
“Thank you for the support, loyalty, and prayers, even when you have not seen me for the past eight months, as I have been enmeshed in building a credible alternative opposition party for our nation.”
Dickson reaffirmed his confidence in the power of the electorate, insisting that attempts to manipulate election outcomes through violence, intimidation, or alleged abuse of security agencies would not prevail.
“We believe the people’s will is supreme. Those who think they can shoot, kill, and maim their own people every election season… as well as write fake results with INEC, will be disappointed once again, ” he said.
He assured supporters that he would soon return to the district to personally appreciate them and urged them to remain united, vigilant, and committed to peaceful democratic participation.
“Together, we must remain vigilant and ready to democratically resist intimidation, oppression, violence, inducements, and every attempt to undermine the will of our people, ” he added.
The senator also pledged that every legitimate vote would count, while stressing his opposition to election-related violence and the use of security operatives or armed thugs against law-abiding citizens.
“I want to assure you that every vote will count. There will be no room for violence, intimidation, or the deployment of security operatives and armed thugs against law-abiding citizens, ” he said.
Dickson thanked supporters for their continued prayers and backing for him and all NDC candidates, reaffirming the party’s determination ahead of the political contests.
